Crave To Travel is the blog of an Indian couple who love to travel, but have to deal with absurd visa rules and requirements to fulfill our dream of budget backpacking.
After a lot of planning, shopping and waiting, we finally took a break from our corporate lives to travel for four months across South America in December 2011.
UPDATE: our South America backpacking trip lasted from Dec 2011 to April 2012. We traveled along this route:
SFO --> Colombia -- (land crossing) ---> Ecuador --(land crossing)---> Peru --(Air Crossing)-> Chile ---Land crossing---> Bolivia --> SFO.
After a month in the United States, we moved across the pacific to our home country, India where we lived and worked in Bangalore for 2 years. We fulfilled our wanderlust by road-tripping on weekends and holidays and a 10-day trip to Bhutan in 2013.
UPDATE Aug 2015: We now live in the San Francisco bay area, and are now proud parents of an energetic one year old girl who keeps us on our toes. Despite having been on a cross-pacific flight, she hasn't yet taken to flights or long road trips, so the family is staying put for now. We cant wait for our next holiday where can explore the world with our little one.

Hi this is a great website!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Thank you so much for your effort , its a huge inspiration!
I intend to travel to Peru for 8 days and was wondering if you could give me some advice on the "Must-dos" and "Must-Haves"
also Would you recommend taking a guided tour or making arrangements independently,
I like the latter but I'm afraid I might miss out on some of the good stuff,Also which one do you think would be cheaper?
Looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks
Pragya
